المركز اليمني يلتقي الممثلة الخاصة للأمين العام للأمم المتحدة Yemen Center Meets the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General

التقى المدير التنفيذي للمركز اليمني لحقوق الإنسان إسماعيل الخاشب الممثلة الخاصة للأمين العام المعنية بالأطفال والنزاع المسلح فيرجينيا غامبا أثناء زيارتها لليمن.

وفي اللقاء الذي تم بحضور مستشار رئيس المجلس السياسي الأعلى لشؤون العلاقات الدبلوماسية سعادة السفير عبدالإله محمد حجر، شكر المدير التنفيذي للمركز زيارة السيدة غامبا لليمن لرؤية حقيقة الوضع الإنساني لليمن جراء العدوان.

كما قام الخاشب بتسليمها مذكرة تلخص الوضع الإنساني في اليمن جراء جرائم تحالف العدوان على اليمن من مارس 2015م، احتوت على بعض الاحصائيات التي تبين عدد الضحايا من المدنيين الذي وصلوا أكثر من (44600) ضحية بين قتيل وجريح جلهم من النساء والأطفال، سقطوا من الاستهداف المباشر بالغارات الجوية والبرية والبحرية منذ مارس 2015، إلى جانب عشرات الآلاف الذي قضوا جراء الحصار ومنع السفر ومنع وصول المواد الغذائية والدوائية والمشتقات النفطية في أكبر كارثة إنسانية شهدها العصر الحديث باعتراف الأمم المتحدة ومنظماتها.

من جانبها تحدثت السيدة غامبا عن أهمية دور منظمات المجتمع المدني في توضيح الحقائق للعالم، من خلال رفع التقارير الخاصة بالرصد والتوثيق للجهات الدولية المعنية والتواصل معها بشكل دائم، لتكون لهذه المنظمات الدور البارز في إيقاف هذه الانتهاكات، كما أكدت أن دور هذه المنظمات متعدد في تقديم العون في مختلف المجالات للجهات الرسمية المحلية والدولية.

وفي ختام اللقاء تم تسليم ممثلة الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة مجموعة من التقارير باللغتين العربية والإنجليزية التي أصدرها المركز ومنها دراسة “مجلس الأمن والعدوان على اليمن ـ غارات وقرارات” التي أصدرها المركز في العام 2022م، إلى جانب تقرير “طفولة بلون الدم ورائحة الموت” الذي أصدره المركز في العام 2020م، بدورها شكرت السيدة غامبا المركز اليمني لتزويدها بهذه التقارير التي ستعمل من خلالها على تواصل وتنسيق مشترك عبر الموظف المختص في مكتبها.

Executive Director of Yemen Center for Human Rights, Ismail Al-Khasheb, met with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General concerned with Children and Armed Conflict, Virginia Gamba, during her visit to Yemen.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Advisor to the President of the Supreme Political Council for Diplomatic Relations, Ambassador Abdulilah Mohammad Hajr, the Executive Director of the Center expressed gratitude for Mrs. Gamba’s visit to Yemen to witness the humanitarian situation the aggression has created in Yemen.

Mr. Al-Khasheb also handed her a memorandum summarizing the humanitarian situation in Yemen due to the crimes committed by the coalition of aggression against Yemen since March 2015. The memorandum included statistics showing the number of civilian victims, which has exceeded 44,600 victims, including killed and injured, mostly women and children, who fell victim to direct targeting by airstrikes, ground attacks, and naval bombardment since March 2015. In addition, tens of thousands have died due to the blockade, travel restrictions, and the prevention of food, medicine, and petroleum derivatives, constituting the largest humanitarian catastrophe witnessed in modern times as acknowledged by the United Nations and its organizations.

Mrs. Gamba spoke about the importance of the role of civil society organizations in clarifying the facts to the world through submitting monitoring and documenting reports to the relevant international bodies and maintaining constant communication with them. She emphasized that these organizations have a multifaceted role in providing assistance in various fields to local and international official entities.

At the end of the meeting, reports in both Arabic and English, issued by the Center, were handed over to the representative of the UN Secretary-General, including the study ‘the Security Council and the Aggression on Yemen: Airstrikes & Resolutions‘ issued by the Center in 2022, as well as the report ‘Childhood with Color of Blood and Smell of Death‘ issued by the Center in 2020. Mrs. Gamba expressed her gratitude to Yemen Center for providing her with these reports, which she will use for continued communication and coordination through her specialized staff in her office.
